FM 97.1 Radio leads Great Effort for Joplin Tornado Victims

Joplin tornado Victims received a great boost of support from  St. Louis Radio Station 97.1 this afternoon. Combined with the efforts of Jeff Hansen’s own- Hansen’s Tree Service Trucks- the radio station loaded grocery supplies and goods this afternoon in Ofallon MO. for the people of Joplin.

FM 97.1 radio host, Dave Glover and Mark Klose spent three hours on the Radio today encouraging listeners and local St. Louis/ St. Charles business people to give to the cause.

The two of them along with Jeff Hansen and the great people of Hansen’s Tree Service should be congradulated for their heroic efforts. Jeff is a great community leader and should be given credit for his committment to others.

St. Louis Hail Storm hits Afton and South St. Louis City

The damaging winds, tornadoes, and 3inch hail continue to hit our town of St. Louis today. At roughly 4pm a severe thunderstorm warning went out from the National Weather Service.  The amount of damage is unprecedented for this year and will total in the millions.

st louis tornado closes lambert airport

The St. Louis Lambert Airport is starting to get back together this easter morning. The first steps in what will be a week long process, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

The windows are boarded up and the glass is still standing on much of the sidewalks..according to one report on Fox News Morning Show. The roof of the airport main terminal will need to be replaced and the main terminal and the airlines that work from their will be mostly closed until further notice.

The surrounding areas have been damaged as well and working crews and the Red Cross continue to assist those who are homeless or in need of shelter.

For those with a need for work to be performed on their homes…makes sure that you stay away from out of town fly by night operations. These “paper contractors” pray upon victims needs and often take their money and leave town.

Maryland Heights Establishes Red Cross Relief Area

Maryland Heights Mo.

The American Red Cross has established a  Red Cross Center at the Maryland Heights Center for any of the victims of yesterday’s tornado, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Also for those people who want to help the st louis tornado victims can also contact the red cross and make a donation or volunteer their time.

At the same time, many of the travelers who have planned on using Lambert Airport will find themselves unable to travel into the St. Louis Lambert Airport for the next few days. The C concourse was damaged in the devastating storm and tornadic winds that hit the area like a Ryan Franklin homerun. As a result the major airlines have had to hault most of the flights going in and out of most of the airport.

The East Concourse is open for travel tomorrow if you are coming into Southwest Airlines and a few others.

As i write this however, i notice that the thunderstorms of Clayton Mo have once again began. When this week is over, it is reported that the st louis area will have had as much as 12 inches of rainfall.

St. Louis Lambert Airport Tornado Rips Airport and Roofs

Bridgeton MO. Many St Bridgeton Mo. Homeowners were devastated when the citizens awoke this morning to a rainy dreary world today..Many roofing contractors were in the area and the roofing damage was more of complete home damage…the biggest problem was a lack of dry clothes and electric for so many of the homeowners. The Red Cross set up a station in the Maryland Heights City Center and will be able to assist those in need for warmth and water.For many of the citizens of St. Charles County specifically the Dardenne Prairie area and Lake St. Louis area need some help too. Auburn Meadows Subdivision

kmov channel 4 news in st louis has reported that the Auburn Meadows subdivison in new melle mo has been hit by a tornadic

storm area and has desimated as many as 20 homes and roofs.

The new melle roofs were blown off entirely in some areas and there was even some very light structural damage on some of the homes in the back of the auburn meadows subdivions in new melle mo.
